Infographic Analysis: Impacts of Climate Change

While typing this post I was listening to this playlist. You can listen too while you read.

This infographic was taken from an article Farming First. The article gave 13 highlights from Farming First’s 2013 activity. The infographic presented was based on the #1 The Future of Food and Farming Infographic: Putting agriculture on the post-2015 agenda. This section of the article discussed the Post-2015 agenda. The Post-2015 agenda was responsible for forming Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), that will replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

According to the article, “the infographic received over 1,000 views on launch day – the second highest hit rate for FarmingFirst.org of all time! The graphics were also retweeted over 1,000 times. This piece by Farming First Co-Chair Morgane Danielou on Reuters Alertnet, sums up the issue: For sustainable growth, count on agriculture.”

The first thing an audience normally notices would be visuals. This infographic was able to convey a specific message to an audience that would be pressed for time. The reason for this infographic is to show the impacts of climate change for the next couple years. It shows how each commodity will drop during those years and how the people will have to pay in the future. The inforgraphic mentions three of the main commodities bought and sold. The last commodity is titles “other crops” and appears to be very broad. The color scheme follows the colors an audience could connect with agriculture. Typically brown, green, orange, and sometimes red can be best related to agriculture visuals. Usually color schemes that relate to earth tone colors work most efficiently.

The main goal of this infographic is to draw in an audience by explaining costs. It also explains that the commodities will decrease in availability causing the prices to increase. If the climate change increases the way it has been, then according to this article, these crops will become extensively more expensive.
